ONE LANE OF I-40 WESTBOUND CLOSED IN HAYWOOD COUNTY, BETWEEN MM 7 AND THE TENNESSEE STATE LINE
Wide trucks heading Westbound will still have to use posted detour. Due to an earlier rockslide, one lane of I-40 Westbound remains closed in Western North Carolina, between Mile Marker 7, and the Tennessee State Line. Work will continue in the area through October as crews complete stabilization efforts at five additional sites.
Truck restrictions have been put in place for that stretch of I-40 Westbound. The restrictions are: Loads greater than 12 feet wide will be restricted from travel on the single Westbound lane as long as work continues in the area. Wide loads traveling on I-40 Westbound will continue to use the detour in place since the road was closed: Take Exit 53 B (I-240 Westbound) in Asheville and follow I-240 Westbond to Exit 4 (I-26 Westbound). Follow I-26 WB to I-81 SB in Tennessee, back to I-40.
