Summer Safety

Posted by Sheriff Hill on 28 May 2010 | 0 Comments

With students about to enjoy summer vacation with friends and family the Polk County Sheriff's Office would like to remind parents and children of certain safety habits that could prevent injuries and help save lives.  These are just a few tips.  Show your children how to properly use 911 in the event of an emergency.  Make sure your child knows his or her full name and address of where they live.  If your child(ren) rides a bike look for a bicycle safety program to enroll your child(ren) in.  If your child(ren) plan on being at a local swimming pool or vacation to the beach look for a pool and water safety program.  Listed next are some very imformative web-sites on safety for chidlren and tips parents can also learn about to prevent injuries around the house and on vacation.  Click here to go to LanaKids a  website that covers beach and pool safety. Click here to access the NHTSA bike safety video that covers bike safety and what to wear.

Posted by Sheriff Hill on 31 January 2010 | 0 Comments

I would like to thank everyone who has donated Coats, Kerosene, Firewood and Money to the needy during the cold winter we are experiencing.  Phone calls have also been coming into the Sheriff's Office and the Communications Center on how to help aid this project.  If you would like to make a donation please send the check to the Polk County Sheriff's Office at 40 Ward Street Columbus, N.C.  Make sure that your check designates which purchase such as Fuel or Clothing you would like.  Make sure when you mail the check to the Sheriff's Office it is sent to the attention of Kim Pack or Donald Hill.  Thank you once again for providing to the citizens of Polk County who really need warmth this time of year.
